Conductor Pablo González and pianist Yeol Eum Son return to the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln for three concerts at the Kölner Philharmonie on January 13th, 14th and 15th. The programme will feature Schumann Overture in C minor from Genoveva, Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 and Zemlinsky Lyric Symphony with vocalists Jennifer Holloway (soprano) and Michael Nagy (baritone).

Both Pablo González and Yeol Eum Son recently had major orchestra debuts with the Dresden Philharmonic; Mr González conducted New Years concerts featuring works by Turina and Rodrigo (with renowned flamenco guitarist Juan Manuel Cañizares), whilst Yeol Eum Son performed Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 2 in two concerts over Christmas on December 23rd and 25th under the baton of maestro Dmitrij Kitajenko. German newspaper Sächsische Zeitung praised the performance of Pablo, writing “The orchestra and conductor formed sparkling and rich contrast of the declaration of love, cheerfulness and fearlessness”, whilst Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten commended the “focus on excellent and cultured sound” of the performance.

Further significant season highlights for Pablo González include a return to Konzerthausorchester Berlin and debut with Frankfurt Radio Symphony, whilst Yeol Eum Son makes her Swiss concerto debut with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under the baton of Susanna Mälkki interpreting Mozart Piano Concerto No. 23. Under Orchestre de la Suisse Romande’s Music Director Jonathan Nott, Yeol Eum will appear in Seoul Arts Centre performing Schumann’s Piano Concerto. In Spring, Yeol Eum returns to London for a concerto debut at King’s Place with Aurora Orchestra under Nicholas Collon interpreting Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21.
